‘The Star’ - Singapore's striking new Integrated Cultural, Retail and Entertainment complex is now well under construction in the one-north precinct and is elevating environmental excellence to new heights. With completion expected during the second half of 2012, the building has been designed to meet world class acoustic, environmental, comfort and fire safety standards.
As an integral part of this cutting-edge fire safety package, SPP Pumps is supplying 2 off Multi Stage Multi Outlet fire pump sets, which were chosen because they have LPC approval. Although many pump manufacturers can offer equipment designed to the various locally applicable fire rules and regulations, SPP is one of the select few who have had their sprinkler and wet riser pumps subjected to the stringent performance and reliability tests of specialist fire approval laboratories worldwide – a fitting choice for the protection of such an iconic development
‘The Star’ is one of three centres included in the one-north master plan. Incorporating a 5,000-seat performing arts auditorium, multipurpose function rooms and an outdoor amphitheatre, The Star Performing Arts Centre aims to become Singapore’s venue of choice for concerts, theatre, conferences, amplified speech and music events.
’The Star’ is just one of a number of landmark developments in Singapore for which SPP fire safety packages have been commissioned – they have also to be deployed in an innovative eco-friendly business park, and one of the most anticipated tourism attractions in Singapore - the Marina Bay SandsTM. Located along the Marina Bay waterfront, the Marina Bay SandsTM integrated resort features three 55 storey cascading hotel towers, a shopping mall, celebrity restaurants, theatres, MICE convention facilities, and a casino.
For the Marina Bay Sands development, an SPP BS08B Split Case Fire Pump was specified - fitted with a 343kw (460hp) Clarke engine and providing 2000 USgpm- plus a mix of smaller SPP Fire Pumps with flows ranging from 750 to 2000 USgpm. SPP’s split case design facilitates quick and easy access to the pump internals for routine inspection and maintenance.
Following on from Marina Bay Sands, SPP Multi-stage Multi-outlet Fire Pumps were specified for Phase 1 of the Marina Business Financial Centre – Residential Development. A further 4 off LPC end suction fire pumps rated from 7.5 to 15kw were specified for phase 2. The residences will include a collection of 428 luxuriously appointed apartments, complemented by a range of recreational facilities.
